Hello, everyone! How have your holidays been?

This is just a quick note to let you know that hey_larry and I are just about done with subbing, and if everything proceeds as planned, we'll be releasing the finished copy in time for Christmas!

Which brings me to a very important point: The second half of Part 6 (lines 783-850 in the script) appears to be missing. I'm reasonably certain this was an oversight on my part. If there are any kind translators who still have free time to translate that much, please let me know and I will be sure to compensate you for your time.

For faster formatting, I've uploaded the correctly timed script here--all you have to do is replace the German with the English translation. I promise this is the very last bit of subbing that needs to be done, and then we'll be all set to release!

 STATUS REPORT!

It's been about a month since the subbing assignments first went up.  How's progress for everyone? Finishing up? Having trouble?

If you're running into trouble with time, please let me know ASAP so I or another subber can cover for you. But you need to let me know soon, because we'd like to finally finish this!

One last request: Can the translator/beta for Part 3 please resend it to me as it appears to have gotten lost in submission? Thanks, and sorry for the inconvenience!

Sorry about the absolutely ridiculous wait, guys! It's been a while, hasn't it? Hopefully you guys are still excited about this project!

So, first things first! xlcatloveress has informed me that her Internet is down for the time being, and she doesn't know when it'll be back up. This means that right now, we're missing Parts 1, 2, and 11 of the script. I really, really hope xlcatloveress can make it back online, but in the event that she doesn't, would any kindly souls be willing to step up and do some translating on her behalf?

Part 1 and a bit of Part 2 have already been mostly translated (here), although a checking of that translation against the official script would be welcome. So really the only bits that definitely need to be translated are Part 2 and Part 11. I know classes are going on for everyone, but if people who are free just translate a little bit each, I'm sure we can get this done in no time!

That said, there's no sense in waiting too long, so I'll be putting up the subbing assignments for the rest of the submitted parts tomorrow! It's already September, so subbers, please let me know if you've got any additional time constraints that have turned up with the new school year and I'll see what I can do. :)

ETA: Also! If you are the lovely person who translated Part 3, please own up so I can give you the credit you're due! :D

Hey, translators and betas! How's everything going?

I don't mean to be a bother, but if you haven't sent in your translated and beta-read portion to bubonicwoodchuck(at)gmail(dot)com yet, please do so by the end of the month! We're not, strictly speaking, on an extremely tight schedule, but we would like to get this out as soon as possible, especially since a lot of the subbers are starting classes this week and may not have as much time to get their part done during September.

Again, if you're running into trouble regarding scheduling and can't finish, please let me know as soon as possible. Thanks a bunch!

Quick update: Thanks to the efforts of hey_larry, a correctly timed version of the German subs is now available! They match the .avi file and can be downloaded here.

Because of issues encountered with opening the .srt file in some programs, it's probably best (and easiest) to do your subbing in Notepad if you run into problems with anything else.

Subbing assignments will be posted as soon as more translations come in! :)

Well, it's August 20 in my timezone and I've got several translated parts already, so kudos to those of you who finished ahead of schedule! :)

I'll be keeping a running list of what parts have been sent in and what parts haven't, just to keep track. Again, betas, once you're finished with proofreading the translated portions, please email me the finished product at bubonicwoodchuck(at)gmail(dot)com.

Received Parts

Part 3 (quotidian_quire)
Part 4 (zetaaa, zarah5)
Part 5 (alanna_zero, frrenchkiss, gdgdbaby)
Part 6 (amnisias, spaceshipmonkey, shiorikazen)
Part 7 (peki, day_moon, parachuutes)
Part 8 (overratedashell, pinku_keks, jowlia)
Part 9 (yessi_5, wepretend, 65kid)
Part 10 (kereia, l_lyla_l, lj5234)

One last thing for the translators! inderpal still doesn't have someone to fill in for her, so if you have any time at all this week and wouldn't mind stepping up to the plate, please let us know! This is kind of important, and I'd like to find someone by the end of the weekend so we don't fall too far behind.

---

So that's about it for the translators. Subbers! Are you guys ready to start? :D Good, because so am I!

Unfortunately, there are a few (sort of boring but nevertheless extremely important) issues which have to be hashed out before we start, so please click the cut for some fiddly things regarding timing!

Hello, everyone,

how are the translative efforts going? ;) Everyone getting ready to pass their translations over to a beta reader?

I was kinda out of the loop for a week here so all I remember reading was that inderpal needed someone else to pick up her part but I can't remember if someone stepped up and took it on - so .. uh .. anyone know what the situation is there?

Also, I'm going to send out personal lj messages to all my translators tonight, checking in with them personally (just to make sure everyone's aware of the tentative deadline approaching fast).

So - let's get the translations done and beta-read, shall we? It's almost time to turn over our work to our friendly neighborhood subbers!

Hey, guys! How are all of you doing? I've just got a few important announcements to make, so if you could just direct your attention below...

First and most importantly, the official German subtitles of the film are now available thanks to the absolutely fantastic okbtmn! You can download the .srt file here if you are interested. In order to play it with the .avi file provided earlier, save the .srt file to the folder containing the .avi file, then rename the .srt file to whatever you named the .avi file (for example, if your file was named sommermaerchen.avi, then you would name the .srt file sommermaerchen.srt). The subtitles should automatically appear when you next play the .avi file. Alternatively, if you're just interested in the subtitles themselves in order to use them as a transcript, you can open the .srt file in Notepad.

I checked the .srt file with the .avi file and currently the subtitles are approximately 12 seconds ahead of the movie. This will be fixed by the subbers when the English subs are released, but hopefully it should not prove to be too much of a problem for the translators. In any case, the transcript should be helpful enough just as a text file, and hopefully we will have fewer issues with mumbly Germans. :)

On a related note, if you want to just copy and paste your translations directly over the German subtitles in the .srt file using Notepad, please feel free to do so! This will save the subbers a lot of time.

Second of all, please don't forget to respond to the status report post here! This is helpful in that it gives us a general idea of how far along everyone is in their translations and allows us to plan for the future.

Next, if you are having trouble with time and you don't think you'll be able to finish your translation by August 20, don't worry! We've all run into scheduling problems before. But please, please let us know by Sunday, August 15. This will give us time to sub someone in for you, and also give them time to translate your part.

Last but not least, inderpal has informed me that she will not be able to finish her part (Part 6, 0:00-5:00). Are there any translators out there who've already finished their parts and would be willing to take on hers?

That's it! Thanks for your time, guys, and again, if you have any questions or comments, please leave them here!

 STATUS REPORT!

Well, it's been a week since the assignments went up.  How are all of you translators doing?  Already finished?  In the thick of things?  Having a bit of trouble with time?  Need someone to lend a hand?  Please let us know!

Just a few brief reminders:
  • The full movie (.avi format, 700 MB) can be found here.
  • If you can't make out what's being said, or just have a question regarding translation, there's a help post here.
  • Our tentative deadline for translation and beta-reading is August 20.
Best of luck, guys! :)
